Pax et Civitas, Latin for Peace and Citizenship. This subject extends beyond, far beyond, national borders. For almost 75 years, Europe has been rejoicing in freedom, which is the reason to organize this congress now, with philosophers, theologians and educators from all over Europe. Dr. Gert Biesta, Professor of Public Education at the Centre for Public Education and Pedagogy at Maynooth University in Ireland, will give the opening lecture on Saturday, after a welcome by the mayor of Utrecht, Mr. Jan van Zanen. In the afternoon, philosopher Désanne van Brederode will take us along in her lecture.
On Sunday, there will be lectures and workshops on the various aspects of peace by, among others, Fransjesca van Grimbergen and Bart van Dijk, chaplains for the Dutch Armed Forces, by Dr. Sven Gellens and Dr. Leni Franken from Flanders, and many others.
The international character is reflected in lectures in the plenary part (in English) and in the parallel lectures and workshops in Dutch, German, English or French. Interpreters are available during the lectures and during the lunches, dinners and social interaction cultural differences will probably fade away by themselves.
Register now and benefit from the Early Bird Fee! (Until January: €125 instead of €150)
