New Statutes and present name adopted at 5th International Congress, Nov 1971, Brussels (Belgium). Registered in accordance with Belgian law, June 1974.
Promote the teaching of philosophy in schools and universities of member countries; provide information on philosophy teaching in Europe; ensure that philosophy teaching is based on the fundamental condition of freedom of thought and expression; ensure that working conditions for philosophy teaching guarantee its free and effective development; promote cooperation of national associations concerned with philosophy teaching with regard to the formation and implementation of the Association’s aims.
Organizes: triennial congress; and annual regional congresses; symposia. Documentation centre and archives on all aspects of philosophy teaching.
